An American church who was abducted by armed men during the church service in South Africa last week has been rescued. Three people have been killed after “high-speed shoot-out”, officials said.

On Tuesday evening, a 45-year-old boy was found to be injured in a township in Geckbara in Gecbera in Josh Sulwan Eastern Cape.

There was no immediate details about the kidnappers who were suspected to be familiar with the movement of the family.

The abduction in South Africa has increased by 264% in the last decade, according to police data.
