I live in one of the most remote places in the United States – we get the grocery that is transported every two months and there are no stores in the city
The woman who lives in one of the most remote villages in the world should attend grocery stores that are transported by plane every two months.
Salina Alasworth, 27, lived in Port Alath, Alaska, the United States, her entire life-after her grandparents moved, Fatina and Mary Alasworth, there are in the 1940s.
The husband of Salina, Jared Richardson, 25, was a guide to fishing, one of the many tourists visiting the village.
The couple met while Jared worked in the resort, where he moved to 2022 from Detroit, Michigan, the United States.
Salina said that Jarrid settled well in the life of the village, although grocery connections are obtained every two months and a disturbance of 200 miles to the nearest city.
There are currently 180 people who live in the village, with no bars, theaters, stores, or restaurants.
“I and Jarid are now marrying a few years,” said Salina, director of Lake Clark.
It was definitely a challenge at first, but it grew in a wonderful way.
He has lived in the village since 2022. It was interesting to share our lives in a village.
“It was not a completely new far away for him, but driving in his truck is not something he could do here-instead, we go to the four wheels.
“There is no small store, so when you go to the home of your comrades, you want some beer or food, you have to get your own store.”
In the 1940s, people were invited to live in Alaska to a house.
The great ancestors of Salina had to prove that they could live on self -sufficiency outside the ground and in return, the government gave them the land to live.
Residents depend on the nearest city, marina, to obtain supplies that can be a challenge to reach – depending on weather conditions.
“Snow and fog are large, there are no hospitals here,” Salina said.
“We have a small clinic that does basic things, but if you have a child or need surgery, you should reach it by plane.
“The only store we have is the little gift store in my family resort.
“There are no theaters, bars or restaurants.
We have two cafes, but they are the only places in the city.
“Winter represents a very difficult time, as we are very far away and everything is coming from aircraft, snowstorms and fog is a real issue for us.
“When there are certain weather conditions, only certain types of aircraft can fly – you can reach a week without aircraft here.”
Sarah said that there are food shipments every two months in the village, and if you need something soon, you must travel on the plane to the nearest city, Marsa.
She said, “We get the delivery of food once every two months. I try to buy everything I need for the winter in October, when the season ended, and I continue to do so until May.
In July, we will renew our freezer with fresh salmon.
September is the mousse season, we get mousse every two years in our family.
“I was going to the mainland once a month this year for different reasons.
“But it is usually every four to six months, depending on what is going on.”
Despite her many challenges, Salina said she has no plans to move and love society’s feeling in the village.
“This is somewhere I always thought I would live, I can’t think of living anywhere else,” Salina said.
“Whenever there is an emergency, or if someone passes through something, we are always ready to help each other.
“Anytime a person goes to Medina, they will contact them asking whether anyone needs anything.
“We are always looking for each other.”
